THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The City Corporation is conducting free medical camps for senior citizens. Under the ‘Vayo Arogya Mithram’ programme, citizens above the age of 60 can attend the camps being held at various locations in the city.
The programme which has been included in the People’s Plan for 2016-17 started on Tuesday at Sishuvihar nursery school in Ponnumangalam. Six doctors including an ophthalmologist checked the health of people in Nemom, Melamcode and Ponnumangalam wards. Around 250 people attended the camp.
Apart from consultation, medicines are also distributed free of cost. For the needy, Corporation supplies walking stick, ortho chappal, spectacles,mosquito nets, cot etc.
