CM Pinarayi to inaugurate library building in Government College for Women

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the new library building at Government College for Women here on Monday. The four-storeyed building was built with Rs 3 crore assistance from the state government. The work was executed by Habitat Group.

A statement from the college said the ground floor will house general reading section, periodicals section, automated issues and returns counter and reference bookshelves.

The first floor would be the stack area and will also house the reprographics section.

The second floor will have the stocks as well as earmarked areas for old and rare volumes and a digital library.

The third floor will house the research section with e-books and e-journals. The library has lift facility and computer assisted communication network.

The inaugural function at 10.30 am will be presided by PWD Minister G Sudhakaran. Shashi Tharoor MP, V S Sivakmar MLA, Mayor VK Prasanth, Deputy Mayor Rakhi Ravikumar, Collegiate Education director M S Jaya, District Collector S Venkatesapathy, architect G Shankar, college principal D Ushakumari and programme committee convenor Sherly Valanthara will attend.
