Women volleyball players honoured

SAI and KSEB honoured eleven women volleyball players who have performed creditably for over a decade.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: SAI and KSEB honoured eleven women volleyball players who have performed creditably for over a decade. Tiji Raju, former captain of Indian Women Volleyball team, was among those felicitated. Speaking at the function, KSEB chairman K Elangovan said KSEB will continue to render financial aid and support for sports and games. 

He thanked SAI LNCPE for giving technical help to KSEB’s players. SAI-KSEB Women Volleyball team was formed in 2007. It has won many laurels at the national and international level. The team has been the winners of Senior State Championship for several years.

Highest achievement of the team was its participation in the Asian Club Championship 2014-2015, held in Thailand. They were the first in India to participate in an international club championship. The team members are Reshma P P, Rekha S, Anju Balakrishnan, Sruthi M, Jini K S, Fathima Fuksana E K, Aswathi E, Krishna T S, Anusree K P and Maya Thomas.

Coaches Sunny Joseph and Prijusha were also honoured at the function. N S Pillai, director, Finance, KSEB, and G Kishore, principal, SAI-LNCPE Rajesh, sports coordinator of KSEB, Jaisamma J Moothedam, team manager, Divya Jaychandran, assistant director, STC, Thiruvananthapuram, spoke at the function.
