40 passengers hurt as bus loses control in Kerala

At least 40 passengers, including women and children, were injured in a road accident when the KSRTC bus they were travelling in lost control and overturned following a brake failure.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: At least 40 passengers, including women and children, were injured in a road accident when the KSRTC bus they were travelling in lost control and overturned following a brake failure. The Palode police have registered a case in connection with the accident.

According to the police, the accident took place around 6.45 pm when the ordinary bus, ferrying around 50 passengers, was proceeding to Anakulam from Thiruvananthapuram. As the bus reached Edavanad, the brake of the bus got damaged and the vehicle eventually lost control.

The bus freely moved to a nearby forest area and overturned. However, the local residents and police came to the rescue and took all of them to various hospitals,  including Government hospital, Nedumangad and Medical College Hospital.  According to hospital authorities, the condition of the injured was stable.
