All set for Chamundi temple pongala

The city has been declared a festive area by the Minister for Devaswom Kadakampally Surendran in connection with pongala at Karikakom Sree Chamundi temple on April 7.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:The city has been declared a festive area by the Minister for Devaswom Kadakampally Surendran in connection with pongala at Karikakom Sree Chamundi temple on April 7. The minister said various departments are coordinating for the pongala. He was speaking at the review meeting held at Karikakom temple. Vivekananda Nagar road and other roads connecting the temple would be repaired. Water Authority will supply water at five major locations around the temple and 200 other points. Corporation would also supplement the efforts of the water authority by supplying water in two tanks.

A large posse of police personnel would be deployed for the safety of devotees. There will be more policewomen considering the number of women devotees who will turn up for pongala. KSRTC will set up a temporary station to manage services to the temple. It would deploy 100 buses for service. As part of the festival Health department will conduct medical camps.
