THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau(VACB) has decided to arraign former District Collectors K N Satheesh and Biju Prabhakar in the Mookkunnimala illegal mining case.
Vigilance sources said the officers have been accused of torpedoing the decision to reclaim the government land.
Earlier, the Vigilance found the quarry mafia had encroached upon government land at Mookkunnimala. In 2012, the then Revenue Secretary had announced steps to reclaim the government land and attach it to the land bank.
But the then District Collector Satheesh and Biju Prabhakar, who had succeeded him, did not initiate any steps in this regard. Both the officials have been accused of ignoring the direct communication from the government in this regard.
The Vigilance had seized the files relating to this from the district collectorate as evidence. The VACB was expected to submit its final report before the court soon.
