‘Varayarang’, a photo and painting exhibition organised as part of the silver jubilee celebrations of Kerala State Service Pensioners Union drew a large number of people to VJT hall on Thursday.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ‘Varayarang’, a photo and painting exhibition organised as part of the silver jubilee celebrations of Kerala State Service Pensioners Union (KSSPU) drew a large number of people to VJT hall here on Thursday.  

The photo exhibition included pictures of KSSPU members and major events in the history of the organisation. 

The exhibition was inaugurated by Karakkamandapam Vijayakumar, member of Kerala state Lalithakala Akademi.

There was an on the spot painting programme attended by eight artists. Gopi Das, Varghese Punalur, N Divakaran, Raveendran Puthur, Dhatthan Chirayinkeezhu and Vijayan Neyyatinkara participated in the on spot painting. 

The theme of on the spot painting was current social issues. The themes dealt by the artists included shortage of drinking water and air pollution. 

31 paintings by Raveendra Pillai were the other attraction of the event. He works exhibited at the venue include ‘Somaliyayile Sooryasthamayam’, ‘Marikkatha Gramam’, ‘Karapuranda Sneham’, ‘Karutha Sooryan’ and ‘Theruvujeevitham’.  His paintings depict the sufferings of human beings especially women.
