KSEB to launch two e-payment facilities

Electricity Minister M M Mani will launch two new e-payment facilities of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Electricity Minister M M Mani will launch two new e-payment facilities of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.

The first service involves an electronic clearing service option for consumers for payment of the bi-monthly power bill. The facility is being implemented through the National Automated Clearing House (NACH) gateway of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

The bills of electricity consumers who have registered under it will be cleared automatically from their bank accounts. The second service, a mobile app for the payment of bills, can be downloaded from Google Playstore. ‘’The basic idea is that consumers need not queue up at the electricity section offices to pay their bills,’’ a KSEB spokesperson said.

The KSEB had launched two new bill-payment services - an e-wallet Paytm facility and a collaborative project with the Centre’s Apna CSC (Common Service Centre) scheme for allowing consumers to pay their bills at any of the centres in the country - in February. V S Sivakumar MLA will preside over the launch planned for 4 pm at Olympia Chambers, Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium. Mayor V K Prasanth will be the chief guest on the occasion.
