THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The data entry of the accounts of 1,600 Kudumbashree neighbourhood groups have been completed as part of an ambitious project to digitise the financial transactions of all  Kudumbashree units functioning in rural areas. Kudumbashree is using the transaction-based SHG digital accounting system devised by the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) for achieving this objective.

“Out of the 2.3 lakh rural neighbourhood groups, Kudumbashree aims to complete the digitisation process in the remaining groups by the end of this fiscal.

Rs 8.65 crore has been allocated by NRLM during the current fiscal,” said Kudumbashree executive director S Harikishore. The use of this software not only ensures error-free accounting, it also reduces the workload of the person assigned to keep accounts.

Ensuring transparency and maintaining a correct record of transactions are other advantages of the digitisation of accounts.
