THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A fruit, flower and vegetable produce show will be organised on the Kanakakkunnu Palace premises from January 7 to 14. It will be held in connection with the Loka Kerala Sabha for non-resident Keralites on January 12 and 13.
A meeting attended by Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran and Agriculture Minister V S Sunil Kumar decided to conduct an exhibition-cum-sale of organic products and expo of medicinal plants and rare plant species. Other attractions include a biodiversity fair, a tribal section, food court and cultural programmes.The show is expected to give a boost to the tourism season. It will be a reflection of the achievements of the state in the agriculture sector.
The Tourism Department is the nodal agency of the event and the Agriculture Department is another organiser. Various committees have been formed to execute the project.Other departments and agencies associating with the organisation of the event are Fisheries Department, Forest Department, Forest Development Corporation, Ayush, TBGRI, Farm Information Bureau, KTDC, KTIL, Biodiversity Board, Handicraft Development Corporation, Corporation, district administration, Suchitwa Mission, Haritha Keralam Mission, Medicinal Plant Board and universities.
