THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the commencement of the work on Vyttila flyover on December 11, Public Works Minister G Sudhakaran said here on Thursday. The D82-crore flyover will be constructed using funds from Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB). The work was stalled indefinitely after the previous UDF Government gave an assurance it would complete the work on its own without Central funds, he said.
The LDF Government, after assuming power, carried out two rounds of discussions with National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). But NHAI was not ready to take over the work owing to the previous government’s stance. It was then the project was included under KIIFB and the DPR prepared on a war footing and approved in a timely manner. The minister said no toll will be collected from motorists who use the new facility.
