Weaving a spell on music aficionados

‘Evening of Classical and Romantic Pieces’ - an ensemble comprising violin, flute, piano and the saxophone - is being arranged by the Trivandrum Centre for Performing Arts at the Hotel Hilton Garden I

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Three Kazakh musicians will join an Indian doctor-violinist in the capital city this Saturday to  perform of some of the finest pieces of Beethoven, Mozart and Fritz Kreisler. 
The ‘Evening of Classical and Romantic Pieces’ - an ensemble comprising violin, flute, piano and the saxophone - is being arranged by the Trivandrum Centre for Performing Arts (TCPA) at the Hotel Hilton Garden Inn. Dr Cavas Bilimoria will be on the violin, Alpamys Bissengaliyev on the saxophone, Aigerim Beisembekova on the flute and Aida Bissengaliyeva on the piano. 

Bilimoria, who is based in Mumbai, combines his profession as a medical practitioner with a passion for the violin. He began violin studies with violinist Jules Craen. After Craen’s death, he continued his studies with a student of Max Rostal, another legendary violinist. Bilimoria has given numerous concerts and is the administrator of a special music programme for gifted children in Mumbai, TCPA said.

Alpamys Bissengaliyev started studying music in his native Almaty, the biggest city in Kazakhstan, at the age of six in the Special Music School for gifted children. He soon took up the saxophone as a second speciality instrument. He has won several international competitions in Kazakhstan, Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkey. 

Aigerim Beisembekova studied the flute in Karaganda music college for four years before continuing her studies at the Almaty Kazakh National Conservatory. She has performed  in Kazakstan, Russia, South Korea and various other countries. Beisembekova was selected as the principal flautist in the International Youth Orchestra performing in Russia. A highly acclaimed pianist and accompanist, Aida Bissengaliyeva has 33 years of teaching experience behind her. 

Kazakhstan aside, she has performed in Italy, the UK, Russia, Moldavia, Kirgistan, and India. 
The winner of no less than 16 international awards, she had the exalted post of ‘Master Accompanist’ conferred on her by the Kazakhstan Ministry of Culture. Since 2012, she heads the Piano Department of the National Centre for Performing Arts’s special music programme for talented children in Mumbai.
