THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Human Rights Commission has ordered speed radars and cameras be installed at all junctions between the Neeramankara-Pravachambalam stretch on NH 66.
In a statement, the commission action chairman P Mohandas instructed the regional transport officer and the District Police Chief to take strict legal measures against those violating traffic signal rules and other major violations.

The commission issued the order based on a suo moto case registered by the commission in the wake of the increase in fatal accidents on the stretch.

The commission also urged authorities to install an additional signal light in front of the KSRTC bus station at Pappanamcode.

Illegal parking beside the stretch should also be restricted to pave a smooth way for vehicles and pedestrians.

In addition to this, speed radars should be utilised properly so violators are booked.
