THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Cautioning Kerala against the emergence of a congenial climate for terrorism and extremism, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Kumar Singh said the state should learn a lesson from the Jammu and Kashmir experience.Inaugurating a discussion on the topic “Internal and external threats being faced by the country” organised under the aegis of the BJP Legal Cell, Kerala chapter, he said J&K - which had been facing the brunt of terrorism and extremism - had started returning to normalcy.

“Now, the people of Kashmir are hating extremism and terror. But statistics show God’s Own Country, Kerala, is facing the menace of terror and extremist elements. It is a dangerous trend,” he said.
He advised the Kerala people not to compromise with terror or extremist elements in the name of vote bank politics or even on the basis of policy.“Such people getting any kind of acceptance will be dangerous. The activities of the anti-national forces are on the rise in the state, especially in places like Kannur. The increase in political violence in Kannur is part of such a trend,” he said.

He said there is a trend propagating the BJP and the RSS are dangerous. Pakistan also says the same.
“Kashmir is not an issue now. What is to be discussed is terror. Pakistan is isolated. No country, except China, supports Pakistan. Youths are quitting the path of terror and joining hands with the police and the Indian Army. In Punjab, it was when the Punjab Police came against terror that it was contained. The same situation is emerging in Kashmir,” he said. Terming the alliance between the BJP and the PDP as an administrative one and not one at the ideological or political level, he said the people of J&K were benefiting out of it.

BJP’s participation in the government in J&K has been giving the message that nationalist forces are strengthening there. He also pointed out the present BJP-PDP dispensation could help strengthen the emotional ties between the people from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions.“The communal divide on local issues has vanished. The PDP leader and Chief Minister  Mehbooba Mufti herself has stated that J&K experienced progress only during the tenure of A B Vajpayee and Narendra Modi at the centre. It is the change of mind caused by the alliance,” Singh said.He honoured Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram director P Parameswaran who has been conferred with the Padma Vibhushan. Legal Cell convener K R Rajagopal presided over the function.
