THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has said the all-party delegation’s scheduled visit to New Delhi, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to meet the Prime Minister, may not be fruitful. He was speaking at a public function on Tuesday after inaugurating the UDF dharna in front of the Raj Bhavan against the Central Government’s neglect of the state.

Chennithala said the NDA Government is not supporting the state and is not clearing any projects for the state since it assumed office. He said the Kanjikode rail coach factory sanctioned to Kerala when RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Rail Minister has been scuttled by the present government. He said it was the UDF Government, during the regime of Oommen Chandy, which had acquired land for the project.

He came out heavily against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and said Pinarayi conducted a protest meet against the scuttling of the coach factory and other issues pertaining to the Railways outside the Rail Bhavan, New Delhi, with only LDF MPs in tow. So the UDF conducted a separate protest meet with senior Congress leader A K Antony, which sent a wrong message that the political leadership of the state is not in unison.

Chennithala hit out against the lower allocation of ration for the state. He said the state government is not doing anything for people and is not raising a proper protest against the Centre. He charged the Union Government with trying to scuttle the people-friendly Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme. Chennithala said the NDA Government is trying to torpedo this by using the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
