THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Digital art captivated his interest the first time he saw it on YouTube. Artist Jineesh K Jois has ever since used digital art to create stunning caricatures and as the world plunges into a football fervour, he decided to spice up the celebrations by creating caricatures of world-famous footballers like Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi.
He has presently done three caricatures of famous footballers to show his support as a football enthusiast. An illustrator, he also designs sketches for cartoons and comics. He says, “When we do digital art, it is much easier as we don’t have boundaries based on medium and colour.” His works are popular as his subjects are unique. Jineesh K Jois, hailing from Thayannur in Kasargod, is a graduate in architecture from College of Engineering, Trivandrum. He is presently a freelance artist.
Says Jineesh, “I used to do small acrylic paintings from my college days. My wish to explore more led me to digital art.” He has bagged prizes in state-level youth festivals and is also a national-level winner for cartoon in inter-university youth festival held at Kohlapur in 2017.
Self-taught, he works with a variety of media including acrylic, oil, watercolour besides digital art and graphic design. His works, titled ‘VUE’, have been exhibited at the Lalitha Kala Academy Art Gallery, Kozhikode. He has also been a part of political and social campaigns in and out of Kerala. Jineesh’s football caricatures will soon be exhibited in a group exhibition.
