VIJAYAWADA: Dr. Korlapati Surya Kumari, a government doctor at Telladevarapalli village in Visannapeta Mandal, went missing late Monday night. The incident came to light after the police registered a case on Wednesday, following a complaint by her mother Mariyamma on Tuesday. 
Surya Kumari is the daughter of Korlapati Vijaya Kumar, an executive engineer in the town planning department. 

His other daughter is a Karnataka cadre IAS officer. The missing women was staying with her parents at Film Colony in Machavaram. Surya Kumari’s father said, “Vidya Sagar, son of former MLA Jayaraju, tried to convince Surya Kumari to marry him despite being married already and having two children.”  On Monday night, before she went missing, Surya Kumari was sleeping with her mother around 12 am like any other day. 

Around 1:30 am, Mariyamma noticed that her daughter was missing and her bike was also not there. After an hour, Vidya Sagar came to Surya Kumari’s home and handed over her mobile phone telling her mother, “Your daughter came to my home and she forgot her mobile phone while leaving.” Later, her mother alerted her kin and conducted a search in the neighbourhood. On Tuesday morning, they filed a missing complaint with the Machavaram police. 

Speaking to Express, Surya Kumari’s father said, “She had worked hard to become a doctor and was doing well in life. The miscreant has deceived her by trapping her. No parent should go through the phase we are going through now and he should be punished.”The Machavaram police reportedly has taken into custody suspect Vidya Sagar and are making efforts to trace the missing woman. CCTV footage showed that the victim visited Vidya Sagar’s home and spent more than an hour.Inspector K. Uma Maheswara Rao said, “We have filed a missing case based on the complaint. The investigation is on to trace her.” The police are scanning the CCTV footage to find her whereabouts.
