Group 2 Mains: APPSC revised key fails to satisfy candidates, officials say all is well

The tiff around Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) Group 2 examinations is gradually getting resolved as the board recently announced revised key to Group 2 mains.

VIJAYAWADA: The tiff around Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) Group 2 examinations is gradually getting resolved as the board recently announced revised key to Group 2 mains. Even after the release of the revised key, candidates are sceptical as the examination was conducted online and the question pattern differed from one person to the other.

Over 40,000 candidates who were shortlisted in Group 2 Prelims appeared for Group 2 Mains examination which was conducted in the second week of July. For the first time, the examination was held online which led to interruptions at some centres resulting in leakage of question papers. Apart from the leakage, the key announced by the officials also received many objections as some questions carried multiple answers. However, considering the objections raised on the key, the APPSC officials announced a revised key and asked to post queries and objections on the revised key from Wednesday. Candidates are tensed over evaluation with the revised key as the question pattern changed from person to person.

Speaking to Express, Group 2 aspirant N Meghana Reddy said, “Earlier in offline mode, the question paper used to be in different sets, where each set would have a separate key and it was easy to access or estimate the rank. But now in online mode, we don’t know which question the APPSC will consider wrong, how many candidates received a question and attempted it and how the valuation will take place.”
Meanwhile, the officials of APPSC said that each question would be named with a tag and valuation would be based on the tags. “The candidates need not worry about the valuation. We are taking utmost care to avoid mistakes. We are also investigating the question paper leakage through CCTV cameras and soon we will put an end to all speculations pertaining to question paper leakage,” said APPSC Chairman P Uday Bhaskar.
