VIJAYAWADA: Over 66 per cent of the targeted population have been covered in the ongoing Measles Rubella vaccination drive in Krishna district. The vaccination was administered to over five lakh children of the targeted nine lakh.

However, many children aged below 10 years reported having developed fever and other complications after the vaccination. Initially, the district health officials identified 9,49,191 children aged between 9 months and 15 years in the district for the drive. 4,205 schools were instructed to participate in the drive.  

Krishna district Medical and Health Officer T V S N Sastry said, “The vaccination drive is going on smoothly without any hidrance. Till date, we have covered over 60 per cent of the children in the district. Only a small number of allergic cases were reported. We are making sure to provide sufficient number of antidotes for those children who are allergic to the vaccine.”
