VIJAYAWADA: Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana has said Amaravati will emerge as one of the top cities in the world in a very short time. He along with Civil Supplies Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao and host of higher officials and representatives from various organisations participated in the inaugural session of the two-day workshop ‘Amaravati - Deep Dive’ in Vijayawada on Thursday. Narayana said if not for the sacrifice of farmers of the capital region, the dream of the world-class capital city — Amaravati — might not have materialised. “I once again hail them for their big hearts,” he said. Describing that the works pertaining to the capital city are progressing at a record speed, he said like nowhere else, the land acquisition, planning, and designing were done in such a short time.

According to him, GIIC has provided infrastructure plan which includes 1,640-km road network plan. “We are going ahead with a target of completing trunk infrastructure in 12 months and LPS (land pooling scheme) infrastructure in three months,” he said.

Pulla Rao said Chief Minister is keen on developing Amaravati as world class capital in a short period. Amaravati Development Corporation chairman Lakshmi Parthasarathy said the road infrastructure in the capital region would be completed in one year. Describing farmers as the first partners of innovative development of Amaravati capital, CRDA commissioner Ch Sreedhar said 95 per cent of land pooling has been completed. He said 59,000 plots were returned to 26,000 farmers.
