Marathon in city on Sunday
VIJAYAWADA: In a bid to spread awareness among people about the importance of running, NGO Vijayawada Runners will conduct 5 km, 10km and 21 km marathons from Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium (IGMC) here on November 19. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Vijayawada Runners chairman T Mani Deepak said marathons would be organised in collaboration with Shriram City and DEEP Trust to mark the second anniversary of the NGO.
Police Commissioner Gautam Sawang will flag off the marathons at IGMC stadium. ‘’We are expecting around 500 participants for this year’s marathon. The NGO has invited various educational institutions and sports enthusiasts to participate in the event,’’ he said. As on date, 240 people registered for the marathon by logging into info@vijayawadarunners.com. Registration fee is `200. T-shirt, medal, refreshment and e-certificate will be presented to the participants.
