VIJAYAWADA: High drama prevailed at the AP Kapu Welfare and Development Corporation’s office here on Sunday evening when chairman Chalamalasetty Ramanujaya had a heated argument with managing director R Amarendra Kumar. The tiff happened after Kumar called a news conference at the office to explain how he had been victimised and was being sent back to the Department of Animal Husbandry.

Ramanujaya, who took exception to Kumar’s antics, put his foot down and prevented the meet at office, forcing the MD to organise the conference in the middle of the road. He said he was being sent on the back of baseless charges as he “was coming in the way of a few people” who wanted to subserve their vested interests. The chairman arrived at the scene and the duo exchanged harsh words. The MD called the press conference after the secretary of the Backward Classes Welfare Department, B Uday Lakshmi, issued orders on Saturday sending Kumar to his parent department of animal husbandry.

“I was transferred over false allegations. I will prove that I am not guilty of any irregularity. The chairman intentionally made baseless accusations against me when I objected to him favouring his family members and friends while  making appointments to non-official postings,” Kumar said.
He said the Chief Minister had set up the organisation to help poor sections of the Kapu community, “but a few people in the body are looting public money by issuing loans to acquaintances”.
