VIJAYAWADA: City police arrested as many as ten persons, involved in 48 crimes related to housebreaking, on Monday. 2.1 kg gold ornaments, 1.2 kg of silver worth `75 lakh and `20,000 cash was recovered from the offenders. Later, they were sent to police custody and will be produced before the court on Tuesday.

While six persons were members of two seperate gangs, the remaining four were inter-district offenders, according to the police. Presenting the arrested before the media in a press conference held at Operation Command Control Room, Joint city police commissioner B V Ramana Kumar said all the accused are repeat offenders and have similar house breaking cases filed against them in various police stations across the State.

Ramana Kumar said seven of the ten offenders are outsiders who visit the city with an intent to commit crimes. They especially targeted woman and lonely people. Kumar also said that the mystery of the house breaking case, reported on September 22 under Penamaluru police station limits, has also been solved. “From five members, we recovered 2.1 kg of gold ornaments, 1.2 kg  silver and `20,000 cash. In a few cases, further investigation has been called forth to recover more properties and cash they robbed from the houses,” said Ramana Kumar. CCS police, patrolling various places, took them into custody. After the interrogation, all of them confessed to their crime.
