Rise in inflows into Srisailam dam again

The inflows into Srisailam project which looked to be steadily decreasing and at one point fell as low as 1,25,835 cusecs since Sunday night, again started increasing from Monday afternoon and by 8 pm

VIJAYAWADA: The inflows into Srisailam project which looked to be steadily decreasing and at one point fell as low as 1,25,835 cusecs since Sunday night, again started increasing from Monday afternoon and by 8 pm crossed 2 lakh mark. At 8 pm, the inflows were being received at the discharge rate of 2,11,595 cusecs with the bulk of it being from Jurala project in Telangana. The rains in catchment areas of Krishna and Tungabhadra rivers and their tributaries are said to be the reason for the increase in the inflows.

However, the outflows are still below 2 lakh cusecs and at 8 pm the inflows into Nagarjuna Sagar Project were at the discharge rate of 1,57,311 cusecs.
The water levels in Nagarjuna Sagar Project was measured at 552.2 feet against FRL of 590 feet.
The volume of water in the project was 214.65 TMC. Meanwhile, parts of Kurnool, Kadapa, Chittoor and Anantapur are receiving light to moderate rains. Kadapa town received a good amount of rain on Monday.  
However, Nellore, Prakasam, Guntur, large parts of Krishna, twin Godavari districts and three north Andhra districts remained dry.On the other hand, following weatherman’s warning of heavy rainfall in most places in coastal districts under the influence of deep depression being formed in the Bay of Bengal, the official machinery of all the districts, more so those of coastal districts have been put on high alert.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the Collectors of all coastal districts, particularly three north coastal districts - Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam to be on alert and ensure that people are not subjected to any inconvenience.
