VIJAYAWADA: Unable to bear the stalking of an auto driver for the past eight months, a 16-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Kondaparva village of Vissannapet mandal late Monday. The 22-year-old auto driver has been arrested, booked and remanded to police custody.
Vissannapet sub-inspector Chiranjeevi said the girl was in intermediate first year at Vissannapet Government Intermediate College.
The accused, Matta Siva, an auto driver by profession and from the same village, befriended the girl and used to follow her daily when she used to go to college, as well as while coming back. Both were in love for a few days. “The girls parents rejected their affair and asked him to leave her. But he did not stop pestering her. Unable to bear his harassment, she decided to end her life in a hasty manner,” he said.
A case under section 306 of the IPC was registered against Siva.
