VIJAYAWADA: At a time when the election process in Telangana missed out on names of several voters attracting criticism both from political parties and general public, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Andhra Pradesh RP Sisodia has emphasised that no such thing will happen in the State. The Election Commission (EC) has taken necessary steps and will continue to take measures to ensure foolproof voters’ list, he asserted.
Stating that the number of voters’ enrolled in the State stood at over 3.72 crore, he said a week-long exercise will be carried out to make corrections to the voters’ list. Speaking to newsmen at the Interim Government Complex in Velagapudi on Monday, he refuted the allegation that thousands of voters were removed in some Assembly constituencies. Any decision about adding or deleting a voter’s name will be taken by the Deputy Collector rank official Election Returning Officer (ERO) based on the physical verification at the field level.
He said as part of a week-long exercise, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will meet all Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by the political parties. They will share with the BLAs the details of Forms 6, 6A, 7 and 8. The prospective voters’ details will be shared with BLAs. The dead and migrated voters’ details will be shared with them. The BLAs will be asked to give information about duplicates, bogus, dead and migrated voters.
The list of voters whose names were deleted during Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls (IRER) exercise in 2016 will be uploaded on website. These names will be entered again through form 6 after verification.
A thorough manual check of all the voters’ lists will be conducted. Those having votes in two locations can apply Form 7 for removing vote in location and keeping it of their choice place.
