After Singapore, talks on for launching flights to Abu Dhabi from Gannavaram Airport

After launching direct flight services to Singapore, Gannavaram Airport officials are planning to start direct services to Abu Dhabi.  

VIJAYAWADA:  After launching direct flight services to Singapore, Gannavaram Airport officials are planning to start direct services to Abu Dhabi.  The officials have already started talks with service providers and Jet airways is keen on starting  services from Vijayawada to international destinations, including Abu Dhabi. 

However, the discussions are still going on and a final decision is yet be taken on launching flight services to Abu Dhabi. Earlier, the airport officials have initiated talks with Emirates for launching Dubai services and the proposal is still on discussion stage. The airport is already has connected flight services to Sharjah, Bangkok and Doha via Hyderabad and Chennai. The city is also connected by air to tier-2 cities in the country such as Pune, Madurai and Coimbatore. 

Airport officials said that connecting services to Sharjah, Bangkok and Doha are getting good response from the passengers.  Speaking to TNIE, G Madhusudhan Rao, Director of Vijayawada Airport, said, “The connecting flights to international destinations are receiving good response from the public as the airlines are offering good discounts and the services are reaching the destination with single stop either in Hyderabad or Chennai. We have initiated talks with service providers for launching direct flight service to Abu Dhabi.”

He added that number of international passengers are more now, thanks to the coming Christmas and New Year holiday season. The connecting flight services  to cities such as Madurai, Pune, Coimbatore, Goa, Kochi, Bhubaneswar and Jaipur are also receiving good response from passengers. The industrialists and business persons from Krishna, Guntur and Amaravati region have been demanding the airport authorities to  launch direct services and cargo services to Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and other middle eastern countries.
