Land encroachment: Relief for MLA Ajit Singh Nagar’s wife

The accused in Ajit Singh Nagar land encroachment case filed a petition before the High Court requesting to remove her name from the chargesheet in the case.

VIJAYAWADA:The accused in Ajit Singh Nagar land encroachment case filed a petition before the High Court requesting to remove her name from the chargesheet in the case. Bonda Sujatha, wife of Cental MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, is the eighth accused in Ajit Singh Nagar land encroachment case.

As per charge sheet, accused persons encroached a freedom fighter’s land worth `40 crore in Ajit Singh Nagar, an incident that brought land grabbing incidents in the State to the limelight. Following Sujatha’s petition, High Court instructed AP-CID officials to keep her out of case investigation for eight weeks.
Sujatha, in the capacity of director for Raviteja Biotech Private Limited, had entered into a development agreement with a person called Abdul Masthan on April 2018, to develop 3,500 square yards of land. Masthan is the prime accused in the land encroachment case.

The land grab came to light after grandsons of freedom fighter Kesireddy Suryanarayana, Suresh and Srinivas Rao lodged a complaint stating that close aides of MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao has trespassed 5 acres of land, gifted to freedom fighters by the State government, in Ajit Singh Nagar, in 1952. CID officials started investigation back in 2016 and filed a charge sheet recently and Sujatha was included in the accused list.
