Free Amaravati trips for public on the cards

The State government will soon offer free tour of Amaravati for the people to show the development done in the capital, said P Narayana, Municipal Minister and CRDA Vice-Chairman.

VIJAYAWADA:   The State government will soon offer free tour of Amaravati for the people to show the development done in the capital, said P Narayana, Municipal Minister and CRDA Vice-Chairman. Speaking after inspecting the ongoing infrastructure development works on Wednesday, the minister said special buses would be hired for the tour. “We will show the development done to the people by arranging buses from the 13 districts. Those who want to see the capital can avail the service,” he said.

The CRDA officials were asked to chalk out a plan for conducting the tours after monsoon, as there was a significant development in housing projects and road works.  It maybe recalled that the State government has been organising similar tours to Polavaram since April. About 24,000 people have already visited the project site so far.

Narayana further said 7,000 houses were being built for the landless farmers of Amaravati, of which 5,000 would be handed over to beneficiaries by December. The government would make necessary efforts to complete the remaining 2,000 houses at the earliest, he added. “The 1,600-km road network, which is being laid with `25,000 crore, will become partially operational by December. It will be completely ready by March next year,” he explained. He also took potshots at Opposition leaders for stating that not even a brick was laid in the capital region in the last four years.
