Paripoornananda visits Durga temple in Andhra Pradesh

He addressed media on Katti Mahesh’s controversial comments on Lord Rama and the epic, Ramayana.

VIJAYAWADA: Sree Peetham Peethadhipathi Paripoornananda Swamy visited Kanaka Durga temple on Friday and said that Katti Mahesh’s comments on religion and culture should not be interpreted to be his opinions, but a fault in society.

Paripoornanada Swamy, who visited the temple after Hyderabad police commissioner on Tuesday imposed an externment from Hyderabad on him, received a warm welcome from the temple officials during his darshan of the presiding deity.

He addressed media on Katti Mahesh’s controversial comments on Lord Rama and the epic, Ramayana. He opined that the education department should be held responsible for not teaching this as history in the syllabus. “It pains me when I see students with poor knowledge of Indian culture and the Puranas. They may be have technical knowledge, but it is important that they do not forget our culture,” he said.

“Government should bring in laws to take severe action against people who hurt religious sentiments,” he said, adding that Katti Mahesh should chant Rama’s slokam for his own good.
