Vijayawada: Two held for extortion in guise of cops

Two men were arrested by Satyanarapuram police here on Friday for posing as police and demanding a realtor to sell his land to them.

VIJAYAWADA: Two men were arrested by Satyanarapuram police here on Friday for posing as police and demanding a realtor to sell his land to them.

According to Satyanarapuram CI P Kanaka Rao, the accused--Sri Harsha and Satish--were friends and demanded Raghava Swamy, a city realtor to sell a piece of his land to them. When the realtor denied, the two posed themselves as greyhounds police and went to his house in a police jeep look alike and threatened him with a gun under their possession.

Raghava Rao approached police and lodged a complaint against them. “We have taken both into police custody and discovered that they were attempting to extort money from the realtor by claiming they were DSP, Greyhounds. Sri Harsha and Satish had already collected around `2 lakh from the realtor,” the CI said.
