Lukewarm response to IRR

The Inner Ring Road (IRR) proposed in Amaravati continues to receive lukewarm response from the landholders whose properties would be affected due to the project.

VIJAYAWADA: The Inner Ring Road (IRR) proposed in Amaravati continues to receive a lukewarm response from the landholders whose properties would be affected due to the project. Most of the landowners said they would decide whether to give their lands for the project or not after the AP Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) announced the compensation particulars. However, some of them sought a change in the alignment of the 97-km-long IRR.

In a public hearing on the draft alignment of IRR on Sunday, the CRDA officials elicited suggestions and objections from the landowners of Nidamanuru, Nunna and other villages in Vijayawada (rural) region. According to a press note issued by the authority, the landholders from Nidamanuru requested a change in the alignment of the IRR as it would affect the SC colonies in the area. They also proposed an alternative to the present alignment and suggested that other arterial roads be used for the purpose.

Some landowners of Ibrahimpatnam, Penamaluru, Gannavaram etc. said a decision would be taken if the authority makes the compensation package clear. Others said they were willing to give land for the IRR only if CRDA offered land in the capital region as compensation.
