A man was brutally murdered by his brother-in-law in the broad daylight at Railway Training Institute at Satyanarayanapuram here on Monday evening.

VIJAYAWADA: A man was brutally murdered by his brother-in-law in the broad daylight at Railway Training Institute at Satyanarayanapuram here on Monday evening. The deceased was identified as Chadalavada Raju (28), a resident of Nidadavolu town. He came to Vijayawada on Monday to attend a training session at the railway institute.

According to in-charge deputy commissioner of police (DCP- L&O-II) Shaik Nawab Jaan, Raju used to work as a gateman at Rajamahendravaram railway station and came to Vijayawada to attend the training session at the Railway Institute. The accused Kandepalli Sekhar (30) is a grade-I railway employee in Vijayawada and met Raju at the institute around 4 pm to discuss family issues. When their discussion turned into a heated argument, Sekhar got angry with Raju and stabbed him multiple times with the knife and fled the spot.

Fellow railway employees, who were present there, tried to catch Sekhar but he fled on his bike. Raju breathed his last in the ambulance while being shifted to the hospital. “The assailant Sekhar married Raju’s elder sister Jyotsna four years ago and had been harassing her. Unable to bear his torture, Jyotsna went to her mother’s place seven months ago. She gave birth to a daughter three months ago.

When Sekhar demanded Raju to send his wife back to his home, he refused,” said in-charge DCP Nawab Jaan.Also, Sekhar called his wife Jyotsna a few minutes before murdering Raju and told her that he is going to murder her brother first and later kill her other family.
