VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to expedite infrastructure development works in the villages so as to complete them at the earliest.

Observing that providing the necessary infrastructure will ensure the development of villages, the Chief Minister instructed the officials to complete the works of drainage, solid and liquid management units, Anganwadi centres, CC roads and LED lighting on time.

During a meeting with officials of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department at the Interim Government Complex in Velagapudi on Tuesday, Naidu set a timeframe to the officials for the completion of solid waste management sheds and drainages.

The officials were told to set up solid waste management sheds in three villages in every mandal in a month to complete the process in 9,000 villages by December.

Similarly, he also wanted the officials to construct drainages in free fabric system in villages having the population between 2,000 and 5,000 and underground drainages in villages having more than 5,000 population.

The Chief Minister suggested the officials to set up water conservation theme park in Amaravati, reflecting various programmes being carried up by the government for water conservation and management.
