VIJAYAWADA: West Constituency MLA Jaleel Khan, along with mayor Koneru Sreedhar and municipal commissioner J Nivas handed over the first phase of house allotment letters to 300 beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Affordable Housing in Partnership (PMAY-AHP) scheme.

Addressing the gathering at a programme organised at Gandhiji Municipal High School here on Tuesday, Nivas said house allotment letters were given to the beneficiaries through an online procedure by giving them unique barcodes. This is to ensure that the beneficiaries do not sell or transfer their house to others. He said that beneficiaries were allotted houses in two categories, 365 sq ft area and 430 sq ft area.

Initially, the beneficiaries should take a demand draft (DD) of 25,000 and they will be provided with a loan facility for the remaining amount of their share after deducting subsidy given by State and Central governments, he said.

‘’In the first phase, allotment letters for 1,774 houses are readied by the officials out of the total of 28,000 houses. Of the total, 300 house allotment letters have been handed over to the beneficiaries in West Constituency. A meeting will be convened shortly with the bankers to discuss sanctioning of loans to the beneficiaries,” Sreedhar said.

He also called upon the beneficiaries to pay DD of `25,000 without any delay and said that remaining house allotment letters will be also handed over to the beneficiaries in East and Central constituencies by respective legislators at the earliest. VMC superintendent engineer (projects) JV Ramakrishna and other officials were also present.
