VIJAYAWADA: In an attempt to put an end to the traditional tender system for purchasing spare parts, tyres, oils and buses, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) have taken a decision to bid the tenders online.

The APSRTC officials tied up with MSTC Limited, an Indian state-owned e-commerce company and the vendors, who are willing to supply materials to the corporation. They are supposed to enrol for filing their bids online for the supply of materials. APSRTC vice chairman and managing director NV Surendra Babu held talks with the e-commerce officials to carry out the tender operations on their portal.

“E-tender system for APSRTC is going to be a game changer. Every year, the corporation spends `3000 crores on the purchase of spare parts, tyres, oils and new buses through tenders. This e-tender process will have transparency since everyone will be able to see the tender process. It’s open for all the traders who are willing to participate in the bidding. They can enrol through the website www.mstcecommerce.com,” said G Jaya Rao, executive director (operations and marketing).

Explaining how the system would work, Jaya Rao said e-commerce tenders will be a must for the traders who are willing to do business with the corporation. Traders should enrol on MSTC e-commerce website with their firm name and get a digital signature.
