VIJAYAWADA: AP Congress in-charge Oommen Chandy has maintained that there is no question of the Congress party aligning with other parties in the State. “Our slogan is alliance with people and the main focus is on strengthening the party from the booth level,” he asserted.

Speaking to mediapersons after chairing the AP Congress Executive Committee meeting here on Wednesday, Chandy, despite mentioning that they are well aware that it is a challenging task for the Congress in the State, said there is no question of alliance (with any party) in AP. “We will go to the people by organising door-to-door campaign and bring back the glory of the party,’’ he said.

He alleged that the BJP-led NDA government had failed in fulfilling the promises, including Special Category Status, made during bifurcation.

For four years the TDP aligned with the BJP, but now it has parted ways only to mislead the people, Chandy said.

APCC Chief N Raghuveera Reddy, former Union ministers MM Pallam Raju and Panabaka Lakshmi were present.
