Guntur Municipal Corporation launches anti-larval campaign in all wards of city

In connection with this, the GMC organised a rally to create awareness among the public about anti-larval operations in the city. Commissioner Srikesh flagged off the rally at the GMC office.  

GUNTUR: The Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) launched a special drive on Saturday in all the 52 wards of the city to kill mosquito larvae. In connection with this, the GMC organised a rally to create awareness among the public about anti-larval operations in the city. Commissioner Srikesh flagged off the rally at the GMC office.  

Malaria Inspector M Prabhakar Reddy said sanitation employees were conducting the programme which would cover the entire city. He said 160 employees participated in the special drive on Saturday. The anti-larval operations would be intensified in targeted areas in Guntur in the subsequent days. He said 6,000 Nagara Deepikas would cover 1.53 lakh houses in the city to create awareness among the public about anti-larval drive. He said GMC was taking all measures to control vector-borne diseases with the coordination of DM & HO officials.  

Srikesh said the people were being affected by malaria, dengue and other seasonal fevers in the city during the rainy season so the GMC had taken up a  special drive to kill mosquitoes in the city. He asked the people to cooperate with the GMC’s initiative to ensure hygiene in the city. He called upon the people to take part in the programme every Saturday to  keep their houses and surroundings clean to control mosquito menace. He appealed to the public to maintain cleanliness in the houses and avoid stagnation of water in and around the residential areas.

Additional Commissioner K Ramachandra Reddy, Deputy Commissioner M Yesudas, MHO Ch Sobha Rani, Biologist Obulesu, Sanitary Supervisor Venkateswara Rao and other officials were present.
