CM Chandrababu Naidu expresses dismay over lack of Central aid

He said he had visited New Delhi 29 times seeking help from the Centre to the State, but in vain.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu took stock of the progress of various schemes and programmes in a teleconference with HoDs on Friday. He emphasised the role of the officials in the effective implementation of different programmes to put the State on the track of development.

Explaining the current situation, Naidu expressed dismay over the lack of assistance from the Centre. He said he had visited New Delhi 29 times seeking help from the Centre to the State, but in vain.

“Despite the challenges, we have created a great ecosystem in the State. We recovered from the Hudhud cyclone within three months, we were able to replenish our groundwater levels despite low rainfall and our agricultural growth rate is also high.

We are doing great in the fields of horticulture, livestock and aquaculture. In fact, we are number one in the country in aquaculture,” he said and attributed the success to the efforts of the officials. Naidu also praised the State budget that was presented on Thursday. “This is the best budget that we could have planned, as it has put the focus on economic development as well as sustainable development goals.”

Officials said the sanitation coverage in the State has reached 91%. As many as 64.75 lakh households have been covered and 6.28 lakh households are remaining. In all, `2,080 crore has been spent in the last four years for construction of toilets.
