Government wants to increase footfalls in museums

The immediate challenge of the department was to develop the museums in the State and create an awareness among the public to increase footfalls in the museums.​

VIJAYAWADA: “The villages, which are going to be submerged because of the Polavaram project, have many archeological artifacts that date back to 8000 BC,” said G Vani Mohan, Commissioner, Department of Archaeology and Museums, Government of Andhra Pradesh, while addressing a press conference on Friday.

Vani Mohan further said that the immediate challenge of the department was to develop the museums in the State and create an awareness among the public to increase footfalls in the museums.

Vani Mohan said the Commissionerate of Archaeology and Museums, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Department of AIHC and Archaeology Deccan College Deemed University and Post graduate and research Institute, Pune are jointly hosting an international conference on “Salvage archaeology and recent researches on the megalithic cultures of South Asia” between 12 and 14 March. The 3-day international conference will be organised at the Nagarjuna University.
