Meera Prasad was the keynote speaker at a programme organised by Sudeekshan Foundation in connection with World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims here on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Around 95 per cent of road accidents happen due to rash driving and lack of knowledge of traffic rules.”

The DTC also pointed out majority of the victims were between 16 and 30 years of age. “Special focus is being laid by the transport department on strict enforcement of the helmet rule across the district with the support of Vijayawada traffic police.”

Earlier, Meera Prasad along with Vimala offered floral tributes to those who died in road accidents in the State at the venue . As part of programme, the organisers also felicitated the families who donated organs of their kin to the needy.
