VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) organised digital payment mela in Vijayawada on Saturday.  Principal Controller of Communications Accounts, Ministry of Communications and IT, Srikanth Panda inaugurated the mela. Addressing the gathering, APCRDA special commissioner, V Ramamanohar Rao said the capital Amaravati has emerged as a digital city right from its building stage.

“With the vision of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Amaravati is being developed as a greenfield smart city — from plot allocation for beneficiaries of land pooling scheme, Mana Amaravati app, My Brick-My Amaravati, HappyNest flats, everything was made online and in a transparent manner.

With the aim to make Amaravati a global economic city, the State government is promoting digital policies and as part of it, Amaravati stands first in digital payments in the country,” he added.

“We are enabling the telecom companies with more spectrum allocations and increasing the digital infrastructure. The digital payments are just one per cent across the country, while in Andhra Pradesh stands second in the country next to Chandigarh with 12 per cent digital payments. We would support more digital payments and policies that are going to be brought by APCRDA.”Mobile telecom operators, retailers and banks are taking part in the mela and awareness sessions on digital payments were also held.
