HYDERABAD: A group of transgenders was arrested for attacking a youth in Vuyyur town on Monday afternoon after accusing him of dressing up as a transgender, and extorting money from shopkeepers and beating them if they objected. According to Vuyyur police, the incident took place around 1 pm, when the five-member group reached Vuyyur bus stand center and started shouting at the youth.

Two groups were formed and heated arguments between them led to a scuffle, in which one youth, Syam, received minor injuries and was admitted to a nearby government hospital. The police were informed by shopkeepers as the altercation between the groups caused traffic jam.

Following a complaint lodged by the injured man, a case was filed against the transgenders for attacking him and creating nuisance at a public place.
