District Selection Committee notification in a week?

The School Education Department is planning to release the District Selection Committee (DSC) notification on October 25 or 26 for recruitment of teachers.

VIJAYAWADA: The School Education Department is planning to release the District Selection Committee (DSC) notification on October 25 or 26 for recruitment of teachers. The officials are waiting for a nod from the Finance Department for increasing Physical Education Teachers (PET) and filling vacant teacher posts in welfare schools through DSC. If the Finance Department gives the clearance, then the DSC notification will be issued on October 25 or 26.

The officials have decided to conduct the recruitment test online and syllabus has also been finalised for the exam. For SGT (Secondary Grade Teacher) posts, the officials have decided to conduct TET-cum-TRT, while a separate exam will be conducted for school assistants, primary grade teachers, etc. The candidates qualified in these examinations will be eligible to take DSC-2018.

Speaking to TNIE, K Sandhya Rani, Commissioner of School Education department said, “We are planning to issue the notification on October 25 or 26 if clearance comes from the Finance Department. We have submitted the required details, like the number of posts in BC, SC/ST welfare schools and PET posts etc to the Finance Department. Based on their report, we will go ahead and issue the notification.” In fact, the School Education Department has identified 10,866 vacant teacher posts and decided to undertake the recruitment process through DSC in 2017. However, the Finance Department gave clearance for recruitment of only 9,275 posts. The notification date was postponed almost four times, testing the patience of teaching aspirants. In School Education Department, there are 3,225 SGT posts, 1,569 school assistants, 210 language pandits, 47 PETs, 59 music teachers and 909 model school teachers.
