Dundee’s art and design courses are getting popular

Pete Downes, Principal and vice-chancellor, University of Dundee, Scotland, UK, talks about the educational institution and the courses being offered.

What courses are popular among Indians in Dundee?

There are around 200 postgraduate students. We are best known for health and life-sciences and our engineering and business courses are also popular with Indians. There is an increase in interest in our art and design courses — particularly animation and product design.

The work placement programme is generating quite a lot of interest. Please comment.

This initiative is supported by UK India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) and is the first-of-its kind. Dundee has been selected to lead this initiative based on its successful graduate internship certificate.

Twenty students will be enrolled from throughout the UK and placed with partners who are key employers in India. You will work for six months and be supported by Dundee staff to qualify for the graduate internship certificate.

What makes Scotland an ideal education destination?

The breadth of courses available at 16 universities and three specialised institutions, all of which benefit from the distinctive Scottish brand of historic depth and current excellence is an attractive factor.

Scotland has a reputation for being a safe environment for students. Dundee is highly placed in the international student barometer. This year it was named by Times Higher Education as UK’s number one university for student experience.
