Actor Dhananjay aka Dhanu started his film career with Guruprasad’s Director’s Special. He also wrote and acted in the short film Jayanagar 4th block. Presently the 27-year-old is shooting for AP Arjun’s Raate, after which he will start working on Eradene Sala. In 2007, he graduated in software engineering from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore.

What did college teach you?

Along with imparting technical education, my college instilled in me a value system. I learned to chase my dreams. This institute made me stronger and more determined to achieve what I want. I became independent, self-disciplined and motivated.

What is your proudest moment in college?

When I was elected as general secretary of the students council. It was an achievement to win such a post at an young age.

Have you had any embarrassing moment in college?

I was caught by a professor while copying in internals. I did not know how to face the professor the next day. It was a lesson well-learned. I was also caught sleeping on the last bench by a teacher. I didn’t know how to react except smile!

How did you score points with the opposite gender?

I had an amazing set of friends. We would get along easily with girls and hang out at our favorite addas. We usually sat for discussions and used to enjoy short trips together. It was pure fun.

Was bunking a part of your college routine?

Yes. I was the man behind many mass bunks. I used to gather everyone and then we would decide on which class to bunk. I used the time to rehearse for my plays. We also loved watching movies.

Did you have any rifts with professors? Why?

Yes, but it was only from small issues like attendance, getting approvals for some of our creative ideas. Thank God! I never got into any serious trouble. Because of my low attendance, I had to charm my lecturers into giving me permission to attend play rehearsals.

Where did you hang out in college with friends?

Our all time favourite adda was downs — a relaxing spot for a majority of students. Here I enjoyed many cups of tea and snacks while chatting with friends.

What extracurricular activities were you involved in?

Extracurricular activities were on the top of my list. I used to participate in Jayciana, a three-day annual cultural fest, dramatics, and folk dance.
