‘Keep the focus on research to make the world better’

Governor of Odisha and Chancellor of Universities, SC Jamir urged upon students of the Sri Sri University to shift focus towards research.


Speaking at the third convocation of the University at Cuttack recently, Jamir said research and teaching are inseparable. “It is important to foster a spirit of enquiry in young minds and encourage them to take up research. Students must aspire to become innovators. This will not only benefit them, but also help them cope with the challenges facing the state and the country. Therefore, research must occupy center-stage in the intellectually stimulating environment of our universities,” he said.


The convocation was attended by founder of the Art of Living Foundation and Sri Sri University, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who said education plays a pivotal role in building the personality of any human being. “Education is just not about gathering information. It is a shining personality that is required in today’s world,” he said.


At least 150 students of MBA, MA in Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, MA in Good Governance and Public Policy and post doctoral students from 28 states were conferred with degrees by the dignitaries. The outstanding students with highest CGPA were awarded gold medals. Anupriya Gupta from the department of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, Sharan Shiv Kumar from MBA, Vishal Deewan from MA in Good Governance and Public Policy department were awarded gold medals for their excellent performance in academics.

Apart from them, Ankita Mahobia, Harshita SK, Sarvani Gaddipati, Rachna Shroff, Anmol Narang were awarded gold medals.


Bijay Kumar Kandel was awarded with PhD in Management. Vice-Chancellor, Dr Nand Lal presented the annual report. The event was attended by 1000 students from the university along with 200 teaching and non-teaching faculty. At least 1500 Art of Living teachers from northeastern and eastern India also assembled for a special meet on the occasion.
