I am a class X student preparing for my Board exams in March. I want to write the Civil Services exams, particularly IFS after graduation. Would it help if I take up the Arts stream next year? People also tell me that Law would help immensely for the UPSC exams. Kindly help.
Glad to note that you have started planning your career moves early in life. A bachelor’s in Arts i.e BA with subjects like psychology, sociology, philosophy, history and such would be a great foundation to prepare for the UPSC exams. In case you are interested, then BA LLB is a great option and can be done as a five-year integrated course in many universities.
Your backup options include an MBA or a career in Law if you choose one of the two options. These have great job prospects and are related to your area of interest. Right now, the first step you have to take is to migrate to the Arts stream and excel in the same to have a good career foundation.

You are eligible to pursue your MBA via a regular college if your BBM was done from a university recognised by the UGC. As the gap since you have completed BBM is 7 years, you need to verify your eligibility based on your current age also. Besides, you must join your MBA programme in the June 2017 batch so that your course is completed without any further delay by June 2019.
