JAIPUR: As the Assembly polls in Rajasthan approach, Congress leadership remains tight-lipped over its choice for the Chief Minister candidate for the party.

Both Front-runners for the post, Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee president Sachin Pilot and former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, have also maintained a silence over the issue.

Supporters of both leaders, however, are lobbying hard to outdo the other for the top post.

The decision will most likely be taken by Congress president Rahul Gandhi. Screening committee chairperson Shailja Kumari said the party high command was deliberating on whether both leaders should contest the polls.

But a Congress leader, on condition of anonymity, said, “It will either be both contesting or none of them.”

Yet another party official confirmed this adding, “Since Gehlot won last time in an adverse situation, he may contest this time and that will prompt Pilot to contest too.  A final decision will be taken by Congress president Rahul Gandhi.”
