TRS and Congress wary of BJP eating into its share in Medak

SANGAREDDY: With the exception of Siddipet, which is a stronghold of TRS’ senior leader T Harish Rao, a fierce battle is expected in the remaining nine constituencies of Medak district. Even though most of these segments are likely to produce three-way contests between three biggies, both Congress and TRS candidates — considered, or claiming to be, favourites in some places — are wary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

TRS as well as Congress, which is leading the four-party alliance of People’s Front, seems to be worried by the prospect of the saffron party cutting into their vote share in these constituencies. The TRS party, thanks to its supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao’s decision to dissolve the Assembly and announce early elections, like in the other districts, had a head start in the election campaign in Medak.

Congress and alliance partners TDP, CPI and TJS, took time to settle their seat-sharing issues and finalise the list of their candidates, they managed to pick up their campaigning, with their door-to-door canvassing, and caught up with the TRS and so did BJP with their national leaders addressing a series of public meetings. With all three intensifying their campaign, the battle is expected to be fierce.
